The latest and greatest foolhardy attempt to win a bet by Tony Hawks, the author of `Round Ireland with a Fridge'. In September 1997, Tony Hawks and Arthur Smith were watching England playing Moldova in the football World Cup. The conversation, oddly, turned to tennis, and an argument ensued - Tony believing that even a `natural sportsman or sportswoman' couldn't be good at tennis without the proper tuition. And so a childish bet was proferred that Tony couldn't play all of the Moldovan national football team at tennis and beat them all. |
